Album de la semaine : Invidious Dominion de Malevolent Creation

Il y a maintenant quelques mois, la formation floridienne Malevolent Creation nous offrait un nouvel album, Invidious Dominion, leur 11e parution. Au cours des années, la formation nous a habitué à un death metal assez classique et la recette ne change pas pour ce nouvel album. Sans trop de surprise, l'album s'avère toutefois très intéressant. On a droit à 35 minutes de brutalité bien dosée et très bien exécutée. En effet, un habile mélange de death metal et de thrash metal accompagne le vocal de Brett Hoffmann pour nous emporter dans une tornade sonore qui nous donne un répis seulement lorsque l'album prend fin. Nos oreilles peuvent alors se reposer de cette attaque sonore en bonne et dûe forme à laquelle nous avons eu droit. Bref, un album qui s'avère un excellent défoulement mais certainement pas un album pour faire la sieste. Ma cote, un 7.5/10

Après le calme, la tempête

Album de la semaine : Axioma Ethica Odini de Enslaved

Une belle surprise que cet album d'Enslaved, Axioma Ethica Odini. Alors que l'on s'attendait à un album de la ligné des Isa, Ruun et Vertebrae qui nous offraient un black metal à tendence plus progressive, voici un album qui nous ramène plus vers les débuts du goupe à l'époque du légendaire Frost. Des riffs de guitare plus agressif que sur les précédents albums, l'utilisation moindre du clean vocal à la faveur d'un vocal style black metal et une ambiance ténébreuse font de cet album un incontournable pour les amateurs du groupe et du genre. À noter aussi la finesse des compositions qui fera le délice des plus exigent en la matière. Bref, un album très réussi qui mérite d'être écouté plus d'une fois, on y découvre de nouvelle chose à chaque écoute. Ma cote, un solide 9.5/10
